Went in to have my engine block heater checked out because it was tripping the breaker every time I plugged it in. I had an 8am appointment, that was booked 4 days in advance because they were all booked up. After checking in the customer service rep (csr) said they would be getting to it within a few hours. I planned on waiting because it was going to be a quick diagnostic but the csr said they wouldn't be getting it in right at 8am. (Why have an 8am appt, I thought?) The csr said it would take about a half an hour to check out the wiring and look for a short. He offered a courtesy ride, and I accepted. (This was the only nice thing I encountered, a ride). At noon I got a text saying they had info and had checked my fluids, etc., which wasn't needed and I didn't request it. I called the csr and he said the wire looked fine to the block heater so there must be a short inside the block where the heater is. Estimate was about $550. I thought that was high so I called another place and their cost was $400. I booked an appt with them. I went to go pick up my truck at Matt's and the csr said it would be $86.23. I asked how that was broken down. He said $79.99 for diagnostics, $3.99 for shop supplies and $2.25 for Hazmat. I said, "I thought you said it was going to be a half an hour of labor?" He said, "I told you this morning it would be $79.99 diagnostics." I said, "no, you didn't, you said it would be half an hour of labor. But, it doesn't matter anymore I'll just pay it." So I paid $86.23 for them to look at a 3 foot power cord to make sure there wasn't any breaks, and their estimate was $150 more than a nearby competitor. Wow! I didn't get angry (life is too short for that), I just paid and left. It was the first and last time that I will go there. Too bad, because I have 7 cars and trucks with my business. Just thought I would let people know.

Lance, Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review. Our reviews are very important to us and our business as we love hearing feedback from our customers. We are sorry to hear that you had a poor experience with us. We strive to provide all of our customers with nothing short of an exceptional, 5-star experience. We’d like to take a moment and go over your main concerns with your visit with us. In regards to your appointment time, we strive to get our customers in as soon as it is convenient for them, in this case, 8 am for you. We do this because then we can have enough time to provide the customer with a ride to work or home so they don’t have to sit and wait and so we have time to begin our work on the customer’s vehicle with proper time to inspect, research and perform testing. We also want to meet our customer’s expectations on when they need to know an answer by, which in this case was noon for you and we were able to get you an answer by 11 am. We would also like to take the time to explain to you on the estimates you mentioned you did not ask for; we provide these as a free service to you on any vehicle that comes into our shop to let you know if there are any safety concerns or maintenance concerns the customer should be aware of. There was no charge for this service and we do apologize if that was not communicated to you when you checked in. In regards to your frustration about the charge and the estimate for repair, the charge was explained to you when our Service Advisor, Chris, checked you in. One of our ASE Certified Technicians was going to spend anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour into testing the block heater and the wiring going to the plugin to determine the source of the failure. We do know that this was mentioned to you as we always want to be upfront with our customers about costs, so there are absolutely no surprises. Our owner, Matt was also up front in the showroom and overheard Chris mention the $79.99 charge for this service, along with him offering you a ride. With the estimate for repairs, we would like you to know that we do not discourage price shopping or second opinions but would like you to understand what we offer with our repairs. This repair would come backed with a 3 year, 36,000-mile warranty. We also would give you one year of free roadside assistance. We also would be having the repairs by one of the most talented ASE Master Certified Technicians in the Fargo/Moorhead area. These are things we pride ourselves on being able to offer to you with your service. We strongly believe that price is what you pay where value is what you receive. Now, these things may not have been explained to you fully and we also apologize for that. Now we can understand if our price may have been higher than others and we encourage you to find out what you will be receiving with your estimate of $300. If the price is what you are concerned with for the repair, then maybe we would not be the best fit for each other as we are not the cheapest shop in town. If you are looking for a quality repair with a leading warranty, then we are absolutely the best place in town for that. We have tried to call you and reach out to you several times with no response, and we would be happy to discuss this further with you, so please call our facility at 701-478-3838. Thank you again for your review.

Brought my vehicle here to get astrostart put in, was told to bring it in right away in the morning, had it there by 8.Was told they wld have my vehicle till 5, wow, all day thing, shldnt be. Luckily my husband who works out of town was home for the week as I need a vehicle for work. Went to pick up my vehicle shortly after 5, to sit until after 6 for them to say we can't take the vehicle home because on the second round of checking the astrostart they got some notofications things weren' t right, so because they wanted to keep it hooked up and call the dealer right away in the morn and see whats going on. Needless to say they didn't let us know till afternoon what was going to tell us they can't install the astrostart. So now I had my vehicle there for a day and half for me to now have to schedule an appt with someone who knows how to install them. And the guy had the balls to say, we won't charge you anything, umm really I would hope not as you didn't do the service you were suppose to do and had my vehicle for almost 2 days.

Tanaya, thank you for taking the time to leave us a review. They are so important to the growth of our business, whether good or bad as we take from each experience and learn something. First, we’d like to apologize that you had a bad experience with us attempting to install your remote car starter. We try to accommodate as many people as we can and in your case we were not able to do the job you asked us to do. We want to go over why we were unable to perform this job. This is something our Service Manager, Vern, and our Service Advisor Chris went over with your husband, Rick. AstroStart has a guide available to installers that explains how these remote car starters will function in your vehicle and function correctly. Part of the installation of these devices is to disable your vehicles factory security system to essentially trick the vehicle’s computer into thinking there is a key in it when there is not. In order to make this function happen, we sometimes will use a separate bypass module. At this point, we are working with two different companies install guides and have to do our best to make sure that they line up together. In your particular case, AstroStart did not have a solution that would work, but the bypass module did. We thought that we could use the information from the 2016 model of your vehicle on the AstroStart side and the 2017 information for the bypass module side. Now our technician, Tom, who has had extensive training in installing AstroStart systems and has been installing these for over 6 years, was able to get this to work for a short period of time. We had your vehicle in our shop, in front of another vehicle, and when it was time for you to pick up, we moved that vehicle out of the way. For good measure, Tom wanted to double check everything was working properly so you didn’t have any issues and it was at this point that your car alarm started going off when using the remote starter. He then spent the next hour trying to figure out why this was not working. The next day we had Tom on the phone with technical support from AstroStart and we were working with them to come up with a solution to your problem. He spent close to four additional hours on this job before we decided at this point that was not much more we could do. This is not a common occurrence and we try to let people know before they come in if their vehicle will not be supported by AstroStart. We are a business and have an obligation to our employees and our company to turn a profit so we can continue to employ and provide exceptional service in the FM area. We did not charge you for the service we provided because we could not provide you with the product you wanted to receive. If you were able to get someone to install your remote car starter, this is wonderful. We are guessing it is probably a brand other than AstroStart but are happy to hear you were able to accomplish what you set out to do with us. When Rick left, everything seemed to be fine and he understood why we were not able to help. We also attempted to reach out to both you and Rick several times after this review was posted with no return phone calls or messages. We would be happy to answer any questions you might have. We can be reached at 701-478-3838. Thank you again for taking the time to leave us a review and your feedback. Have a Happy Holiday Season!

Called to ask for a quote on a specific repair (how much to replace the bearing in the front-passenger wheel of a 2007 Nissan Sentra) so we could compare prices to fix a vehicle. The employee who answered said they do not offer quotes unless you bring the vehicle in and they diagnose it themselves (with a diagnostic fee attached, of course). That is ridiculous. As vehicle owners, we should not support this lack of transparency. I understand there are extenuating circumstances which may lead to a different price than quoted... that is why it is a quote not an invoice... but the basic theory would be that is item A is $250 at Joe's shop and $325 at Bill's shop, any extenuating circumstances would also be cheaper at Joe's. So, I will never be contacting them again as we had many other shops offer quotes for us and I am not interested in dealing with people who try to force you to do business with them.

Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review, Jesse. We always appreciate receiving feedback as that is how we are able to continue growing as a team. As you may see, our reviews are very important to us and our business. We are sorry that your experience via phone was not what you expected. We strive to always provide each and every one of our customers with an awesome experience, whether that be in person or over the phone. In cases like over-the-phone estimates, we try to understand why the customer needs what they are asking for and what led them to calling in for a price. We are not in the business throwing parts at a vehicle, but instead want to take the time to inspect the vehicle, and perform the necessary testing so that we and the customer can have a definite answer, along with a solid course of action, with options available to them. We provide our customers with digital inspections with pictures and videos so they can see their vehicle and what is going on, along with educational videos and we love to bring customers back into the shop area to show them in person if it fits in their schedule. Everything we do is to be absolutely transparent, but we believe if we give you a quote over the phone, we are making a promise to you at that price. Without seeing your vehicle and no knowledge or history of it or your issue, we would be doing not only you, but your vehicle a disservice. In no way do we ever want someone to feel forced into doing business with us as that does not line up with our core values. We will take your feedback and definitely discuss it as a team so we can continue growing. We would also love the opportunity to discuss this with you at your earliest convenience. Feel free to reach out to us at 701-478-3838. Again, thank you for your review and feedback and have a great day!
