I have been going to matt's for almost 3 years, I have always had a great experience until recently. My wipers stopped working, so I brought it in. They did a diagnosis, found the wiper motor to be at fault. Replaced wiper motor, it worked fine. Fast forward 3 weeks and it stops working again. I bring it in, they do another diagnosis, which wasn't covered under warranty by the way, so that's $130 out of MY pocket for no reason. The part was warrantied, shouldn't I have been compensated for that? Second inspection, found the wiper linkage to be faulty. They quoted me $370 for labor, and had to go to a junkyard to find the part used because it is not manufactured anymore. So ballpark $800 or so to just fix the god damn wipers? I've seen the process of replacing the linkage and it's not a 4 hour job like they claimed based on labor pricing. Oh and they went ahead and ordered the linkage for me, without my consent. I told them I would think about it because I've already put $2000 into a car I paid $1500 for. I will admit that the water pump / timing belt job they did for me was reasonable, they charged me $1,000 for a job that would have taken me a weekend of work. Overall, I am pretty disappointed, especially since I thought Matt's was different than all other auto shops that don't try to nickel and dime / con you into repairs. Maybe I'll stick to doing my own repairs from now on. UPDATE: Vern called me to rectify the situation, told me the part they ordered would be sent back to the vendor, and once I had the money to do the repair, they would help me out with some sort of discount for the misunderstanding. He also explained that the diagnosis charge was applied because my issue with the wipers was unrelated to the wiper motor, which isn't covered under the warranty, which makes sense, it just hurts my wallet quite a bit. I have interacted with Vern every time I have been to Matt's and he is always very professional and courteous, and really makes you feel at home when you are there. This experience dinged my relationship with Matt's, but it's nothing that can't be fixed. I have considered Matt's the best automotive service business in the state, and I still do.
